Summary
The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) seeks a Southern Region Chapter Specialist to develop and implement training and technical assistance projects to support the state Chapter organizations in the Southern region. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated leader with demonstrated communication, project management, and relationship-building skills with recent experience leading a dynamic State Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). This position is based in Huntsville, Alabama, but may be performed remotely. Travel will be required. The Department of Justice – Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention funds this position, and the position is contingent upon receipt of continued funding of the project.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and the ability to learn specific software programs used within the department.

- Participate in creating, developing, and delivering overall support, training, and technical assistance to State Chapters in the Southern Region.
- Build and maintain successful working relationships with Chapter leaders and Victims of Child Abuse Act (VOCAA) Partners also working with Chapters
- Develop individualized training and technical assistance plans with each Chapter.
- Identify unmet needs and support the identification and implementation of promising practices related to State Chapter organizations.
- Provide training via webinars, workshops at national and state conferences, and other in-person opportunities.
- Provide technical assistance in the form of individual phone/video consultations and on-site assistance.
- Draft publications, blog posts, and other resource materials to fill gaps in training and support of Chapters.
- Prepare and submit technical assistance data, timesheets, expense reports, and other assigned work-related documents accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Oversee the Chapter subaward process, if applicable.
- Assist on other projects as needed.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration or other related field. (Master’s preferred.)
- Must have at least three years of recent experience leading a dynamic State Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Centers.
- Must live in the eastern or central time zones.
- Prefer experience with Chapters in the southern region.
- Prefer significant experience designing and providing technical assistance and training.
- Prefer significant experience with grant management, especially with federal grants.
- Prefer significant experience managing projects, committees, or work groups.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge and proficiency with web-conferencing and streaming communications.
- General knowledge of program development and evaluation
- Excellent analytic, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong facilitation and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to work with people of diverse experiences and backgrounds.
- Extensive computer skills with preference for experience developing online training and communications programs.
- Ability to work effectively with, or without, close supervision in a collaborative environment with a remote team.
- Commitment to strong team environment and direct communication with coworkers
- Dependable on following through on projects within set timeframes.
- Writing skills to prepare curriculum and training materials.
- Reading and comprehensive skills to screen and edit training materials.
- Ability to co-train.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with acute attention to detail.
- Ability to be adaptable to change.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Acceptance of occasional non-standard hours.
- Willingness to travel, on average, two times per month.
