The National Children’s Advocacy Center is growing the digital information library (Child Abuse Library OnlineTM; CALiOTM) team by hiring a second Digital Information Librarian. The person who is the best fit for this position is motivated and eager to provide high quality diverse support to multidisciplinary child abuse professionals and wants to advance the field of child maltreatment so that all children can be safer, happier, and healthier. The NCAC is located in Huntsville, Alabama, but the position may be performed remotely, with preference for Eastern or Central time zones.

The National Children’s Advocacy Center
The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) was established in 1985 as the first Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) in the world. The CAC model of a multidisciplinary team approach brought together law enforcement, criminal justice, child protective services, and medical and mental health workers onto one coordinated team to better support children impacted by child abuse. By improving overall outcomes for abused children and their non-offending caregivers and family, this model and approach revolutionized the response to child abuse in the United States. The NCAC has served tens of thousands of children since the 1980s and been a model for the more than 1,000 CACs now operating or developing in the United States and around the world.

Training/Technical Assistance Project
Since its beginning, NCAC has provided national and international training and technical assistance to child abuse professionals. NCAC has historically been and is currently awarded a federal grant for the Training/Technical Assistance (TTA) for Child Abuse Professionals Project. This grant was established as part of the Victim of Child Abuse Act (VOCAA) legislation to develop and provide training and technical assistance for multidisciplinary child abuse professionals and to enhance the multidisciplinary response to child abuse. It is administered by the US Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. TTA Project includes the creation, maintenance, and delivery of a digital information library (i.e., CALiOTM), among other professional trainings and resources. CALiOTM is one of the largest professional resources collections that provides access to published knowledge, educational materials, and other resources related to child maltreatment. It is a unique, significant, and invaluable resource in the field.

Role of the Digital Information Librarian
The Digital Information Librarian will have shared responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the digital research library and integrated library system and collaborate on planning and integration of library information services that support the goals of the TTA Project and, also, the strategic objectives of the NCAC. The person hired for this position will join a small team led by the existing and longtime NCAC Digital Information Librarian.

This position is funded by a three-year competitive grant awarded to the NCAC by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Department of Justice. Along with the TTA Project as a whole, this position is contingent upon receipt of the grant award from OJJDP each three-year cycle.
