More than 300,000 children each year find hope and healing in the network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) in the United States. The Southern Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (SRCAC) works each day to empower local communities to serve child victims of abuse compassionately and effectively. The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) is seeking a Director to lead our SRCAC Department.

About SRCAC

The Southern Regional Children's Advocacy Center (SRCAC) is a National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) project funded through the Department of Justice to provide training and technical assistance to communities working to provide a coordinated, collaborative response to child abuse. Currently, there are 457 Children's Advocacy Centers and 16 state Chapter networks of CACs within the Southern Region.

About the role:
The SRCAC Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the SRCAC, under the direction of the Director of Professional Services, and in response to the enabling legislation (Victims of Child Abuse Act), which defines the role of the Regional Children’s Advocacy Center. With the Director of Professional Services, the SRCAC Director sets and communicates the priorities for the SRCAC and accounts for results and use of resources on an ongoing basis. Responsible for effectively accomplishing these priorities according to schedule.

The Department of Justice – Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention provides funding for this position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding for the project by the Department of Justice.

A typical day may include:

  • Directing daily operations - allocating work and resources for a successful program.
  • Leading staff in implementing the strategic plan.
  • Providing attentive oversight of grants management and timely responses to all required reports and submissions to the Department of Justice.
  • Collaborating with other Directors to ensure cross-departmental coordination, alignment of departmental vision, and leveraging of resources.
  • Facilitating training for CAC professionals
  • Out-of-state travel, one to two times per month

Education and experience requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Prefer a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative and supervisory experience.
  • Federal grants experience is strongly preferred.
  • Requires significant first-hand knowledge of CAC operations.
  • Requires demonstrated experience and success as a trainer for large and small groups of diverse multidisciplinary partners working with a CAC.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

Location and Hours

The NCAC main campus is located in downtown Huntsville, AL. Our standard business hours are 9:00 - 5:00 CT, Monday through Friday. This position will work 40 hours per week on-site in our SRCAC offices or remotely in the following states (Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia). All candidates must be within one hour of a major airport and live in the Eastern or Central time zones. Travel will be required (out-of-state travel one to two times per month, on average).
