Extensive knowledge of child abuse intervention and treatment is required. The mission of the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) is to Model, Promote, and Deliver Excellence in Child Abuse Response and Prevention through Service, Education, and Leadership. NCAC is the birthplace of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) model, and since opening its doors more than 35 years ago the NCAC has served as a model for more than 1,000 CACs in communities nationwide and throughout the world. NCAC has approximately 65 employees and was awarded Best Places to Work in the medium-size organization category for the last two years of participation: Silver in 2018 and Bronze in 2017.

In addition to providing local services to children and families, NCAC is one of the leading organizations providing training and technical assistance to child abuse response professionals. More than 180,000 child abuse professionals from all 50 states and 33 countries have been trained by the NCAC.

The successful candidate will need to reside in or relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area. We are currently operating with limited on-campus activities, and Intervention and Clinical staff are rotating on-site and off-site work days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assures the delivery of high-quality forensic interviewing, victim advocacy, and medical services for all children referred to the NCAC.
  • Assures the implementation and fidelity of evidence-based mental health services including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Child Parent Psychotherapy.
  • Provides leadership to and supervision of the intervention and clinical program staff, including regular peer review for all services, and including the MDT as much as possible.
  • Makes service recommendations for clients to the Madison County Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Provides criminal justice support for clients when attending court proceedings and testifying. Also serves as a fact and expert witness in court regarding mental health and trauma related concerns.
  • Develops and implements program development initiatives for Intervention and Clinical direct services.
  • Responsible for writing direct service-related grants and oversees grant reporting.
  • Acts as a supportive liaison with MDT partners in the field.
  • Participates in MDT Supervisor meetings to assure continued implementation of the collaborative multidisciplinary response to child abuse.
  • Proactively supports wellness initiatives with staff and MDT to address secondary traumatic stress/vicarious trauma.
  • May serve as MDT Facilitator during weekly case review meetings.
  • May provide direct service on a limited basis depending on training and experience.
  • Provides training on child maltreatment issues to local, state, and national professionals.
  • Writes articles for publication when new knowledge and/or techniques are developed in the agency.
  • Participates in curriculum development activities and training delivery with the NCAC Training Department.
  • Actively participates as a member of the NCAC Executive Leadership Team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises or oversees supervision of all Intervention and Clinical Department staff and proactively works to build a supportive, productive and inclusive working environment
  • Hires and dismisses staff as necessary, assures appropriate training, evaluates performance and administers appropriate disciplinary procedures.

Education and/or Experience
  • Graduate degree in related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the child maltreatment field.
  • Experience supervising professional and administrative staff and building a positive working environment; prefer a minimum of three years supervisor experience.
  • Experience with the implementation of evidence-based mental health services.
  • Strongly prefer leadership experience working with a CAC/Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Prefer licensed or license eligible in Alabama.
