Summary
Seeking a proven, innovative leader with excellent management, communication and organizational skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) Intervention and Clinical Department. This department provides Forensic Interviews, Extended Forensic Interviews, Mental Health Services, Medical Exams, and Family Advocate services to children and families in North Alabama.  This individual will supervise all staff assigned to the department which currently includes approximately 10 employees plus additional staff who assist on a part-time basis from other departments. This position also serves on the Executive Team of the NCAC and assists with agency-wide leadership. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Assures the delivery of high quality forensic interviewing, victim advocacy, and medical services for all children referred to the NCAC.

  • Assures the implementation and fidelity of evidence-based mental health services including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

  • Provides leadership to and supervision of the intervention and clinical program staff, including regular peer review for all services and including the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) as much as possible.

  • Develops and implements strategic objectives for the Intervention and Clinical program.

  • Monitors grants and reports; provides writing, editing and quality control.

  • Manages departmental budget process.

  • Facilitates MDT Supervisor meetings and provides leadership to periodic Interagency Agreement revisions.

  • Develops and monitors policy and procedures to ensure compliance with NCA Accreditation Standards.

  • May provide therapy on a limited basis depending on the selected candidate and additional organizational decisions to be determined. 


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduate degree in related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of the child maltreatment field.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience supervising professional and administrative staff.

  • Experience with the implementation of evidence-based mental health services.

  • Strongly prefer leadership experience working with a CAC/Multidisciplinary team.

  • Prefer licensed or license eligible in Alabama.

  • Examples of skills required include ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to work under pressure and be flexible to change; ability to think strategically and to adopt an agency-wide view; good judgment, high initiative, self-motivation and self-disciplined work habits; and ability to integrate business strategies with the social services culture of the agency. 


Additional Requirements
Applicant must be willing to work non-standard hours and over 40 hours per week if needed. Must be willing and able to travel periodically on behalf of the agency. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle. Applicant will be required to pass a drug test and background check. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
 
Compensation and Benefits

About National Children’s Advocacy Center
The mission of the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) is to Model, Promote, and Deliver Excellence in Child Abuse Response and Prevention through Service, Education, and Leadership. The NCAC is the birthplace of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) model. Since opening its doors more than 29 years ago, the NCAC has aided in and been the model for establishing more than 900 CACs in communities nationwide and throughout the world. The NCAC employs approximately 50 full-time and part-time personnel and, in 2016, has a budget of 5.1 million dollars. In addition to providing local services to children and families, the NCAC is one of the leading organizations in the country providing training and technical assistance to child abuse response professionals. More than 80,000 child abuse professionals from all 50 states and 33 countries have been trained by the NCAC. The NCAC also hosts the International Symposium on Child Abuse, which is attended by approximately 1,200 child abuse response professionals from across the world. The NCAC provides over 30, three-to-five day trainings, throughout the year. Some training classes are held at the NCAC Training Center in Huntsville, AL, and other training classes are provided throughout the United States, and internationally.
